Plagiarism in textual form is the copying of information from a document without giving credit to the author/authors through the bibliographic reference, and this is what should be done. Nowadays, and perhaps with more emphasis, this problem is observed and in many opportunities with greater impetus, so that an Editor who fully trusts the author/authors of a manuscript, and also if he/she is of recognized trajectory, it should be logical that he/she does not plagiarize, but we see that something is happening that cannot be explained.

So what to do about this problem, since it is becoming pandemic, and it is curious to take it this way, day after day, it is not lacking that some prestigious journals point out the retraction of a particular article as a result of plagiarism. What happened, or have we forgotten academic integrity, which is so much discussed in university classrooms on this issue and is not only a personal issue, but an issue of identity.

If one analyses this issue from the academic point of view, what is happening with undergraduate/postgraduate theses, if some universities do not make them visible in their institutional repository, the question is: why is it that there is plagiarism and perhaps the reviewers and/or authorities, due to time pressure or other internal factors, have not given room to review these processes?

Today there are some advertisements that offer "we do theses in all areas for undergraduate/postgraduate" and curiously they are in sight and patience in the avenues near the University at least in our country, and as it is well known some students lend themselves and go to these services, hence the question returns, will the members of that court review if there was plagiarism. The doubt remains and will continue to linger for a long time until someone is encouraged to carry out a conscientious review.

Now, the above means that an Editor has to make use of technological tools that allow for a thorough analysis, and as sometimes the details are the flaws, so is the search for this problem, since the image of a journal is at stake, its role and performance, which for years has been to gain the trust of the scientific community, who ultimately define where to send their articles so that they can be evaluated for publication and dissemination of credible information, for a public to whom they owe their credit.

However, what to do with this issue of "plagiarism" is still in question, perhaps we should return to the awareness of the authors, that not only for the sake of increasing their impact, some undergraduate/postgraduate students and the latter who are in the training phase, do not carry out fraudulent activities that help no one, least of all the institution to which they owe, as this would generate a discredit and therefore their credibility with the bodies that financially supported their research and perhaps take decisions that will affect them forever.

But plagiarism is not only in the text, it is also very often observed in figures, tables of results, etc., So the role of an Editor has become extremely important and has to go through many situations that at some point escape him, and in the long run may affect over time, which will result in calls for attention from the indexers (databases), that a journal took several years to be visible in one of these, whose demands are very necessary but it is also important because they provide a space for a journal to increase its visibility and therefore its prestige in terms of bibliometric indicators.

Finally, when receiving an article, Journal of the Selva Andina Research Society (JSARS) asks the author/authors for the letter of originality of authorship, a letter that must be signed by all authors and two authorities that certify their research work, which many authors do not accept and we now know the reason, but it has become a rule in the journal which gives us the guarantee that the article is from the authors.

To conclude, we are committed to the integrity of the work and the publications we publish by one author or another, we are confident that we do so on the basis of the Author - Editor - Public trust to which the journal is addressed.
