Abstract

MEDINACELI TORREZ, Rubén  and  TRUJILLO LUNARIO, Elvys. Technical and economic study of kaolin deposit exploitation belonging to career engineering of mines, petroleum and geotechnical of U.T.O.. REV. MAMYM [online]. 2016, n.1, pp.46-55. ISSN 2519-5352.

Abstract Kaolin is a hydrated aluminum silicate Si2O5 Al2 (OH) 4, product of the decomposition of feldspathic rocks mainly. The term refers to kaolin clays in predominantly mineral kaolinite; its specific gravity is 2.6; its hardness is 2; white, you may have different colors due to impurities; generally earthy matt gloss; is hygroscopic (absorbs water); its plasticity is low to moderate. The site serves academically Kaolin Race Mining Engineering practices for teachers and students in Drilling and blasting, topography, rock mechanics and design Opencast. The objective of this research is confined to demonstrate that the exploitation of the deposit of kaolin in charge of the School of Mining Engineering, Petroleum and Geotechnical is technically feasible and economically profitable. The study allowed us to determine that the site has tons of Kaolin 318,892.14, which will be marketed at a price in a first phase US $ 20.00 / ton and operating at a rate of 12.00 tons / day; In a second phase, a treatment process which will obtain a higher quality product that can be marketed at a price of 100.00 U $ us / Tonne and operating at a rate of 40.00 tons / day will be implemented. Moreover, from the economic point of view, the study allowed us to determine that the income per year will be in the first phase of US $ 53,886.17 and the second phase 1.03.732,20 US $. Project feasibility is demonstrated since the study showed aratio ofbenefit/costof 4.1 in the first round and 21.62 inthe second phase.
