Abstract

PEREZ RAMIREZ, Tatiana. Fieldwork and Archival Work. Research Experiences for the History of Municipalities in Mexico. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.51, pp.109-134.  Epub Dec 20, 2023. ISSN 2077-3323.  https://doi.org/10.35319/rcyc.2023511199.

The study of the history of municipalities involves immersing oneself in local political and social life with a long-term perspective, which requires the deployment of different methodologies together with the development of interdisciplinary strategies. This paper considers archival work combined with fieldwork as necessary tools that enrich the historical work on this topic. Emphasis is placed on viewing fieldwork as a profitable activity for municipal analysis. In this sense, some field experiences are described in which the obstacles, complications and risks are noted when the researcher is a woman.

Keywords : Mexico; municipalities; field work; archival work; gender.
