Resumen

ROTH, Erick  y  CASTILLO, Stephanie. Enterprise and University: a Complex Though Desirable Relationship. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.30, pp.103-139. ISSN 2077-3323.

This paper originated in a necessity to identify psychological barriers preventing integration between private enterprises and university in order to enhance collaborative endeavor. The study reached 57 enterprises in La Paz city, Bolivia, including commerce, industry, finance and services sectors. The research lead us to grasp the perceptions of future employers concerning characteristic of university professional output, the university role in the national development context, its weakness and strengths, and future perspectives on joint undertakings initiatives. Results suggest possible courses of action to improve collaborative future work. Enterprises may expect from superior education centers to emphasize in the generation of certain skills or "pragmatic" competences, so as to orient achievement to determined labor products. Though enterprises perceive a real potential in universities as an attractive partner for future activities, its reliability to assign them clear responsibilities is still relatively low. This may be due to a combination of preconceptions based on little or scarce information on real possibilities of universities, on judgments over performance of young and recent professionals and on absence of preceding shared experiences.

Palabras clave : perceptions; university-enterprise relationship.
