ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: New Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are currently involved in higher education, although there are differences between virtual and non-virtual education, it is necessary to analyze them. OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to carry out a virtual course that includes the use of ICT and through surveys to obtain impressions as well as the degree of satisfaction of the students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is an intervention study in which the introduction ofa 4-week virtual course, designed in an instructional manner, with activities and tasks was carried out. 160 students of the 5th year of the Subject of Gynecology of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) participated in the 2014 study. Before the course was started and at the end of the course, anonymous virtual surveys were carried out. They show us the degree of student satisfaction and the criticisms and recommendations. RESULTS: The initial survey shows that most ofthem have good knowledge about the Internet, most of them have access from their homes and almost half have smartphones. A problem they had in previous experiences was the speed of access. In the current course 85% states good acceptance being the self-evaluations and the tutorial videos of great help, they suggest that it should be applied in all the subjects andalso recommend greater clarity in the indications, as well as the insertion ofclinical cases. CONCLUSIONS: The introduction of ICT in higher education was very well accepted in this study and it is suggested to perfect it in order to improve the teaching-learning process.
