Abstract

VARGAS SOTO, Lizeth. Intubation guided by flexible fiberoptic in a patient with cervical spinal cord trauma, managed by the anesthesia service. Gac Med Bol [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.2, pp.93-95. ISSN 1012-2966.

Intubation using flexible fiberoptic in awake patient, now is the technique of choice for the management of patients with difficult airways, unfortunately not all anesthesiologists are trained to perform this technique, it is the duty of every anesthesiologist control permeability the airway, this technique becomes the gold standard for management of intubation in patients with difficult airway in anesthesiology. This case report is of a patient with cervical spinal cord trauma, immobilized with Halo - Vest (halotorax) which was guided fiberoptic intubation with the patient awake, managed by the anesthesiology service, procedure performed in and allowed successfully performing surgical fixation of fractures and cervical listesis.
