Resumen

FLORES H, Xenia N. et al. Estudio preliminar de engobes cerámicos a partir de arcilla blanca de Micaya y Fe2O3 de Mutún. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2024, vol.41, n.2, pp.41-53. ISSN 0250-5460.  https://doi.org/10.34098/2078-3949.41.2.4.

Preliminary study of ceramic slips from white clay from Micaya and Fe2O3 from Mutún. The formulation of ceramic slips was carried out using Bolivian natural raw materials, such as white clay from Micaya (La Paz) and iron oxide slats obtained from the pre-concentration process of Mutún (Santa Cruz). The raw materials and products were characterized by X-ray diffraction and differential gravimetric thermal analysis. Kaolinite and quartz in white clay, and hematite, goethite and quartz in the slats were identified. Different concentrations of iron oxide were mixed for the formulation of slips, followed by a heat treatment at 950°C. The differences between the natural oxides of the slats and commercial iron oxide used as a reference were identified. The characteristics and colorimetric properties in the final material obtained from the commercial oxides and the oxides of the slats are similar. The results obtained allow these natural slats to be proposed as raw pigment material in the elaboration of slips.
