CHOQUEHUANCA CALLISAYA, Ramiro J.. “After Evo ... ¿what?”. Legitimation, political practice and colonial recomposition in the leadership of Evo Morales. Temas Sociales [online]. 2023, n.53, pp.247-283.  Epub 30-Nov-2023. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/gurv2688jm12y.

The so called “process of change” in Bolivia, vigorously influenced by the figure of Evo Morales Ayma, an indigenous leader who put into practice successive social, political and symbolic resources for its legitimation, today envisions a critical panorama, a vacuum of leadership and uncertainty with respect to the direction of Bolivian politics. In order to understand this reality, this article follows the indigenous leader’s legitimization process, taking as a substantive element his ex-ante and ex-post socialization as president of Bolivia and his socio-political practice with respect to his grass roots (followers who supported him), mainly indigenous-peasants.

Palavras-chave : Political leadership; indigenous-peasant movement; colonial recomposition; political power; social movements; political legitimation; Evo Morales; social crisis; political crisis; political profile; habitus; identity; Bolivia.
