INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

General instructions

Title and Authors

Use the first page for the title and authors. The title should not exceed 15 words. You must describe the content of the article clearly and concisely, avoiding the use of ambiguous words, abbreviations, and question and exclamation marks.

Anyone who has contributed or developed the study or design, in addition to the analysis of the results, the preparation of the manuscript and its review and approval.

For each of the authors that appears in the header, you must provide: full name, institutional affiliation, location address (postal, or office or workplace -street, career or equivalent-, or telephone, or fax or email and (ORCID). This information and only this one is essential. Skip positions, teaching degrees, names of research groups, recognitions, etc. It is essential that in the event that a student is participating in an investigation, they are accompanied by a group of experts, otherwise authors who are only students are not allowed.

Indicate who will be the main author to receive or send correspondence, from otherwise, the first one in the list will be assumed as the order for this action.

Declaration of Conflict of Interest

Manuscripts will include on the title page a statement in which The authors will state that they are independent with respect to the funding and support institutions, and that during the execution of the work or the writing of the manuscript no interests or values ​​other than those usually have the research have had an impact. Only manuscripts in which the authors have no conflict of interest will be considered.

In some cases it will be necessary for the authors to specify the support received ( financial, equipment, workforce, in-kind, among others), people or public or private institutions to carry out the study, as well as personal or institutional relationships that may affect the conduct, results, interpretation of the same and the writing of the manuscript.

The editor and the Editorial Committee will be attentive to possible conflicts of interest that may affect the ability of peers or reviewers or that disable them to evaluate a particular manuscript.

The publisher, the Editorial Committee or the reviewers are formally prohibited to use for private or private purposes, the information obtained or gained in the work with manuscripts.

Summary and Keywords

Once the manuscript has been identified on the first page, then the next corresponds to the abstract and the keywords in Spanish and English, with a minimum length of 150 words for the abstract and 3 to 5 for the keywords. Because the abstract is the most widely read part of an article, when it is entered into bibliographic information systems, it must meet the following requirements:

Language: Abstracts of manuscripts in Spanish and English must have abstract in two other languages. Articles written in Portuguese will have abstracts in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Length: 150 to 250 words

When it comes to manuscripts containing research results, it is required a structured summary that necessarily and only includes objectives, methods, results, discussion or conclusions, or an adaptation of this format to the respective discipline. Abstracts of other types of manuscripts, such as essays, reviews, case studies, may be presented in a different format than the previous one, but they must contain the necessary information to understand

 

Peer reviewing process

The estimated time from acceptance of the work by the evaluators to publication is estimated at three (3) months. CET's Horizontes Journal reserves the right to suggest formal modifications to the articles that are accepted for publication. All texts sent must be governed by Vancouver style for the presentation of articles.

This quality control system is developed throughout the editorial process of the journal in digital format, as follows:

  • It begins with the process of receiving the article proposals made by the author (s). Next, the article is rigorously evaluated by the Editorial Committee, anticipating that it has the parameters of structure, clarity of the objectives, coherence of ideas, relevance of the methodology, soundness of the results and discussion, conclusions and references, in order to guarantee the relevance, originality of the contributions, scientific rigor and ethics in the editorial process, reserving the committee the right to refer experts on the issue raised.
  • Subsequently, two pairs external to the publishing institution, national or international, will be assigned as evaluators of the article under the double-blind peer review process modality, and in case of disagreement in the concepts, a third evaluating pair will be assigned to settle disagreements; they are the ones who will make observations and issue an opinion in terms of: (a) Accepted for publication, (b) Pending publication, or (c) Not accepted for publication.
  • Finally, the article is published in the number corresponding to the one that is structured according to current and pertinent topics. That is why the article proposal is entered into our system responding to the parameters established by the Editorial Committee.

The following criteria are taken into account during the arbitration process:

  • Compliance with the guidelines of the International Comitee of Medical Journal Editors.
  • Relevance of the topic to the coverage area of ​​what is published in the ALFA Journal.
  • Contribution of new theoretical and practical knowledge on the subject studied.
  • Rigorousness and objectivity with the topic addressed.
  • Adequate, clear and consistent use of the written language.
  • Updating and validity of the informed referential framework (last five years).

Later, two external peers will be assigned to the publishing institution, these can be national or international; as reviewers of the article under the double-blind peer review process modality, and in the event of disagreement on the concepts, a third peer reviewer will be assigned to resolve the disagreements; they are the ones who will make observations and issue an opinion in terms of: (a) Accepted for publication, (b) Pending publication, or (c) Not accepted for publication.
