Cañihua (Chenopodium pallidicaule) is a pseudocereal native to the Andes, particularly cultivated in countries like Peru and Bolivia. The aim of the research was to evaluate the yield of ten varieties of cañihua from the Agrarian Experimental Station ILLPA - Puno, under the agroecological conditions of the Accopampa Experimental Field belonging to the National University of San Antonio Abad del Cusco, at an altitude of 3750 meters above sea level. The study was conducted during the agricultural campaign from October 2018 to April 2019, using a design of 4 blocks, randomly distributing the 10 varieties of cañihua across a total of 40 experimental units organized randomly. The varieties evaluated included Pitojiura, K’ello, Puca, Chilliwa, Cupi, among others. The results showed significant differences (α<0.05) in grain yield per hectare. The varieties Pitojiura (976.1 kg/ha), K’ello (913.7 kg/ha), Chilliwa Rosada (886.8 kg/ha), and Puca (869.8 kg/ha) achieved the best yields, while Cupi (477.4 kg/ha) and Toncco q’ello (684.2 kg/ha) had the lowest yields. Cupi showed a yield that was 50% lower than that of Pitojiura. The results obtained can be used in the selection of cañihua varieties.

Palabras clave : Chenopodium pallidicaule; Cañihua; Genetic conservation; Performance; Saponin.
