MAMANI MAGNE, Gabriel. Against No One in Battle: Representation of the Enemy in Sangre de Mestizos. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2024, vol.28, n.53, pp.69-88. Epub 11-Dic-2024. ISSN 2077-3323. https://doi.org/10.35319/rcyc.2024531326.
This work reflects on the representation of the enemy in the narrative of the Chaco War and has as reference the book of stories Sangre de mestizos (1936) by Augusto Céspedes. Like any war, this event generated a sense of belonging and, at the same time, an otherness that would be synthesized in the search for a common enemy. This work analyzes how enmity is not present in the figure of the Paraguayan soldier, a direct adversary of the Bolivians on the battlefield, but in other elements, such as the inhospitable geography of the Chaco and the regional elites.
