Si bien se evidencia una competencia lingüística y un desarrollo satisfactorio de las habilidades receptivas, existe preocupación por el insuficiente desarrollo de la producción oral. Es así, que en este estudio se identifica y explican los factores que intervienen en el desarrollo de la competencia comunicativa oral facilitando o dificultando su desarrollo en un grupo de estudiantes adultos jóvenes en un estudio de caso. Este trabajo se enmarca en el paradigma cuantitativo y es una investigación proyectiva. Los hallazgos permitieron identificar falencias a nivel metodológico y en el diseño de evaluaciones orales. Así mismo se evidenció la importancia de distinguir la producción oral como un proceso en el que interactúan distintos factores que van más allá del desempeño visible de los estudiantes en el desarrollo de la producción oral en los cursos de la Escuela de Idiomas, permitiendo de esta manera fomentar el desarrollo de la competencia comunicativa oral en inglés.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Today's society is increasingly giving a privileged place to English language learning due to its importance in the academic, cultural and economic spheres. Although linguistic competence and satisfactory development of receptive skills are evident, there is concern about the insufficient development of oral production. Thus, this study identifies and explains the factors that intervene in the development of oral communicative competence, facilitating or hindering its development in a group of young adult students in a case study. This work is framed in the quantitative paradigm and is a projective research. The findings allowed us to identify shortcomings at the methodological level and in the design of oral evaluations. Likewise, the importance of distinguishing oral production as a process in which different factors interact that go beyond the visible performance of students in the development of oral production in the courses of the School of Languages was evidenced, thus allowing to promote the development of oral communicative competence in English.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO A sociedade atual está dando cada vez mais lugar de destaque à aprendizagem da língua inglesa devido à sua importância nas esferas acadêmica, cultural e econômica. Embora haja evidência de competência lingüística e desenvolvimento satisfatório de habilidades receptivas, existe a preocupação com o desenvolvimento insuficiente da produção oral. Assim, este estudo identifica e explica os fatores que intervêm no desenvolvimento da competência comunicativa oral, facilitando ou dificultando seu desenvolvimento em um grupo de jovens aprendizes adultos em um estudo de caso. Este trabalho está enquadrado dentro do paradigma quantitativo e é uma pesquisa projetiva. Os resultados nos permitiram identificar deficiências no nível metodológico e na concepção de avaliações orais. Também mostrou a importância de distinguir a produção oral como um processo no qual interagem diferentes fatores que vão além do desempenho visível dos alunos no desenvolvimento da produção oral nos cursos da Escola de Línguas, permitindo assim promover o desenvolvimento da competência comunicativa oral em inglês.]]></p></abstract>
