Actualmente, este tipo de hongos tienen un gran potencial biotecnológico en la resistencia de las plantas a factores abióticos. El objetivo del estudio fue describir la comunidad de hongos endófitos asociados con la raíz del cultivo de quinua que crecen en el altiplano sur de Bolivia. Se aislaron hongos endófitos de la raíz empleando el método de placas de fragmentos de quinua. Los aislados se identificaron por taxonomía morfologíca. Se aislaron 20 morfotipos, siendo los géneros más abundantes Fusarium (7 sp) y Penicillium (1 sp), sin embargo, 12 cepas no fueron identificados por métodos morfológicos tradicionales. Este estudio reporta la abundancia y diversidad de hongos endófitos en el cultivo de quinua del altiplano boliviano, algunos hongos tendrían un rol potencial de tolerancia a las condiciones de estrés abiótico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Endophytic fungi exhibit mutualistic associations with plant roots. These types of associations are important for plant survival in extreme environments. Currently, these types of fungi have great biotechnological potential in plant resistance to abiotic factors. The objective of this study was to describe the community of endophytic fungi associated with the roots of quinoa crops growing in the southern highlands of Bolivia. Endophytic fungi were isolated from the roots using the quinoa fragment plate method. Isolates were identified by morphological taxonomy. 20 morphotypes were isolated, the most abundant genera being Fusarium (7 sp) and Penicillium (1 sp); however, 12 strains were not identified by traditional morphological methods. This study reports the abundance and diversity of endophytic fungi in quinoa crops in the Bolivian highlands. Some fungi could have a potential role in tolerance to abiotic stress conditions.]]></p></abstract>
