La composición botánica fue estimada usando el método punto-cuadrante, el pasto fue colectado del sitio de estudio y taxonómicamente identificado. La disponibilidad de forraje (kg MS/ha) fueron medidos al inicio, mediados y finales de periodo de lluvia, y a mediados del periodo seco. El material cosechado fue mezclado, secado, molido y analizados para MS, PC, ceniza, FDN, FDA y EM. La composición botánica estuvo dominada por F. dolichophylla (23.8-36.5 %), M. fastigiata (8.2-12.8 %), S. ichu (3.4-11.4 %), N. meyeniana (6.6-8.1%), B. boliviensis (2.5-7.8 %), A. pinnata (0.1-12.1 %), T. amabile (0.0-10.5 %), B. unioloides (2.9-4.4 %), C. heterofila (1.7-4.8 %) y otros. La disponibilidad de MS varió entre 766 y 2154 kg/ha en época de lluvias y 603 kg/ha en época seca. Hubo una amplia variabilidad en la composición química entre especies y estaciones. Para todas las especies, al comienzo de la temporada de lluvias se incrementó la calidad del forraje incluyendo un aumento de PC y menor en los contenidos de FDN, mientras que al final del período de lluvias y especialmente en la estación seca hay reducción de la calidad del forraje con disminución de la PC y aumento del contenido de FDN y FDA. En conclusión, el rendimiento y la concentración de nutrientes de los pastos nativos muestran una alta variabilidad entre ambas temporadas.]]></p></abstract>
