Este estudio se centra en las características clínicas, factores de riesgo y desenlaces de pacientes diagnosticados con COVID-19 en la Caja Petrolera de Salud (CPS) en Cochabamba, Bolivia, durante el periodo 2020-2022. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue identificar diferencias de factores de riesgo entre pacientes recuperados y fallecidos.  Material y métodos:  Se realizó un estudio transversal analítico. La población incluyó 559 pacientes diagnosticados con COVID-19 mediante RT-PCR (2020-2022). Se utilizaron datos de historias clínicas electrónicas y reportes epidemiológicos. Se analizaron variables sociodemográficas, comorbilidades, signos y síntomas clínicos. Se aplicaron análisis descriptivos y un modelo de regresión logística para evaluar la asociación entre factores de riesgo y desenlaces clínicos.  Resultados:  De los 559 pacientes, el 56% eran hombres y el 44% mujeres, con una edad media de 41 años. Los síntomas más comunes fueron fiebre (25.94%), cefalea (23.26%) y tos (23.08%). Las comorbilidades más frecuentes incluyeron hipertensión (8.94%), obesidad (6.44%) y diabetes tipo 2 (4.65%). Sin embargo, no se encontraron asociaciones estadísticamente significativas entre estas condiciones y la recuperación o el fallecimiento.  Discusión:  Los hallazgos reflejan una población joven con menor prevalencia de comorbilidades graves en comparación con estudios internacionales. A pesar de que la hipertensión y la obesidad son predictores de gravedad ampliamente documentados, su impacto fue limitado en esta cohorte. Las limitaciones del estudio incluyen su diseño transversal y el uso de datos secundarios. Se recomienda validar estos hallazgos mediante cohortes prospectivas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has led to a global pandemic. The objective of this study was to identify differences in risk factors between recovered and deceased patients.  Materials and Methods:  An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted. The study population included 559 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 by RT-PCR (2020-2022). Data were obtained from electronic medical records and epidemiological reports. Sociodemographic variables, comorbidities, and clinical signs, and symptoms were analyzed. Descriptive analyses and a logistic regression model were applied to assess the association between risk factors and clinical outcomes.  Results:  Among the 559 patients, 56% were male and 44% female, with a mean age of 41 years. The most common symptoms were fever (25.94%), headache (23.26%), and cough (23.08%). The most frequent comorbidities included hypertension (8.94%), obesity (6.44%), and type 2 diabetes (4.65%). However, no statistically significant associations were found between these conditions and recovery or death.  Discussion:  The findings reflect a relatively young population with a lower prevalence of severe comorbidities compared to international studies. Although hypertension and obesity are well-documented predictors of severe disease, their impact was limited in this cohort. Study limitations include its cross-sectional design and reliance on secondary data. Validation through prospective cohort studies is recommended.]]></p></abstract>
