En ese sentido, el objetivo de este artículo es analizar los diversos retos y transformaciones a los que se enfrentan las IES en la era digital como respuesta a los avances tecnológicos. Mediante una revisión de literatura, el presente artículo explora diversos aspectos de la transformación digital en las IES, incluidos los cambios en la pedagogía, la gestión educativa y los avances tecnológicos subyacentes. Los resultados ponen de relieve la necesidad crucial de apoyo administrativo, dominio de las competencias digitales y alineación con el entorno de la universidad durante la transformación digital de las IES. Se concluye que la transformación digital en la enseñanza superior va más allá de la mera adopción de nuevas tecnologías; requiere una evolución continua y dotar a los recursos humanos de conocimientos y competencias acordes a los requerimientos de la sociedad contemporánea.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The fourth industrial revolution has precipitated substantial societal changes, which have permeated into the sphere of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This article aims to scrutinize the multifaceted challenges and metamorphoses confronted by HEIs in the digital age, as a response to technological progress. Through an extensive literature review, this paper delves into various facets of digital transformation within HEIs, encompassing shifts in pedagogical paradigms, alterations in educational administration, and the underpinning technological advancements. The findings underscore the imperative nature of administrative support, proficiency in digital skills, and synchronization with the academic milieu in the context of HEIs' digital transformation. It is inferred that digital transformation in higher education transcends the mere assimilation of novel technologies; it necessitates a continual evolution and the provision of knowledge and competencies to human resources that align with the exigencies of contemporary society.]]></p></abstract>
