OBJETIVO: Determinar prevalencia, características socio-demográficas, clínicas, obstétricas y quirúrgicas de pacientes con infección de sitio quirúrgico post cesárea en el Hospital del Norte - El Alto, gestiones 2021 - 2022 - 2023.  MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo, de corte transversal, muestra de 82 pacientes con diagnóstico de infección de sitio quirúrgico post cesárea. El método fue revisión de expedientes clínicos.  RESULTADOS: La prevalencia puntual de infección de sitio quirúrgico post cesárea fue 5.23%. Las características de pacientes con infección de sitio quirúrgico post cesárea con porcentaje mayor a 70% fueron: grupo etario de 20-34 años, procedencia urbana, sin anemia, sin infección urinaria, controles prenatales suficientes &#8805; 4, edad gestacional &#8805; 37 semanas, rotura prematura de membranas &#8804; 11 horas, cesárea de emergencia, tiempo quirúrgico &#8804; 59 minutos.  CONCLUSIÓN: Se determino que, la prevalencia puntual de infección de sitio quirúrgico post cesárea fue de 5.23% y las características, grupo etario de 20-34 años, procedencia urbana, sin anemia, sin infección urinaria, controles prenatales suficientes &#8805; 4, edad gestacional &#8805; 37 semanas, rotura prematura de membranas &#8804; 11 horas, cesárea de emergencia, tiempo quirúrgico &#8804; 59 minutos, se presentaron con mayor frecuencia en las pacientes con infección de sitio quirúrgico post cesárea.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  INTRODUCTION:  Post-cesarean surgical site infection is one of the most common obstetric complications after cesarean section.  OBJECTIVE:  To determine the prevalence and sociodemographic, clinical, obstetric, and surgical characteristics of patients with post-cesarean surgical site infection at the Hospital del Norte in El Alto, during the 2021-2022-2023 period.  MATERIAL AND METHODS:  An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 82 patients diagnosed with post-cesarean surgical site infection. The method was a review of medical records.  RESULTS:  The point prevalence of post-cesarean surgical site infection was 5.23%. The characteristics of patients with post-cesarean surgical site infection (SSI) with a percentage greater than 70% were: age group 20-34 years, urban origin, no anemia, no urinary tract infection, sufficient prenatal checkups &#8805; 4, gestational age &#8805; 37 weeks, premature rupture of membranes &#8804; 11 hours, emergency SSI, and surgical time &#8804; 59 minutes.  CONCLUSION:  It was determined that the point prevalence of post-cesarean surgical site infection was 5.23% and the characteristics, age group 20-34 years, urban origin, no anemia, no urinary infection, sufficient prenatal controls &#8805; 4, gestational age &#8805; 37 weeks, premature rupture of membranes &#8804; 11 hours, emergency cesarean section, surgical time &#8804; 59 minutes, occurred more frequently in patients with postcesarean surgical site infection.]]></p></abstract>
