La lesión renal aguda asociada a sepsis (S-AKI) es una entidad con elevada morbimortalidad. Para su diagnóstico, se requiere la presencia de lesión renal aguda (por criterios del sistema KDIGO) y sepsis (según criterios SEPSIS-3). Tomando en cuenta la conocida y documentada relación entre los sistemas de AKIN y KDIGO para el diagnóstico de AKI de forma aislada.  Objetivo.  Comprobar la existencia de relación entre los sistemas AKIN y KDIGO para el diagnóstico de S-AKI.  Método.  Estudio descriptivo comparativo de test diagnóstico unicéntrico, transversal y observacional, realizado durante las gestiones 2022 y 2023 en la Unidad de Terapia Intensiva del Hospital Obrero Nro.4 CNS Regional Oruro empleando dos estrategias diagnosticas para S-AKI, una que incluye el sistema KDIGO y otra al sistema AKIN. Usando la primera estrategia para determinar la sensibilidad y especificidad de la segunda, luego se realizó una comparación entre ambas.  Resultados.  La muestra fue no aleatorizada por conveniencia con un total de 64 pacientes, 73.4% de ellos fueron diagnosticados con S-AKI usando el sistema AKIN, con sensibilidad del 82% y especificidad del 71%. Al compararla con la sensibilidad del sistema KDIGO de 82% se demuestra la relación entre estos sistemas para el diagnóstico de S-AKI.  Conclusiones.  Existe relación entre los sistemas AKIN y KDIGO con una sensibilidad obtenida para el sistema AKIN equiparable a la obtenida para el sistema KDIGO para el diagnóstico de AKI como criterio de S-AKI.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction. Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (S-AKI) is an entity with high morbidity and mortality. Its diagnosis requires the presence of acute kidney injury (KDIGO system criteria) and sepsis (SEPSIS-3 criteria). Considering the relationship between the AKIN and KDIGO systems for specifically AKI diagnosis is known and documented, its application for S-AKI diagnosis is of interest.  Objective. To verify the relationship between the AKIN and KDIGO systems in the diagnosis of S-AKI.  Method. Comparative descriptive study of diagnostic test, transversal and observational, carried out in 2022 and 2023 at the Intensive Care Unit, Hospital Obrero No. 4 CNS Regional Oruro. Two diagnostic strategies for S-AKI were employed, one including the KDIGO system and the other the AKIN system. The first strategy was employed to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the second, then a comparison between them was performed.  Results. Considering a total of 64 patients, 73.4 % of them were diagnosed with S-AKI by AKIN system, displaying a sensitivity of 82 %o and specificity of 71%. Comparing this with KDIGO system, a sensitivity of 82% was observed.  Conclusions. A relationship between the AKIN and KDIGO systems as a criterion for S-AKI diagnosis is demonstrated, this through a sensitivity obtained by AKIN system comparable to that obtained by KDIGO system.]]></p></abstract>
