Se encontraron semillas de al menos 15 especies diferentes de árboles, dominado las Lauraceae (48.8% de las semillas, al menos 3 especies) y Palmae (48.4%, 10 especies). La composición de la muestra indica que los guácharos utilizan un amplio rango elevacional en la vertiente oriental Andina y que juegan un rol importante en la dispersión de frutos grandes de árboles.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In 1996 we collected a random sample of seeds regurgitated by oilbirds (Steatornis caripensis - Stealomithidae) at a cave in Carrasco National Park, Bolivia. The sample contained seeds of at least 15 tree species, with Lauraceae (48.8% of the seeds, at least 3 species) and Paimae (48.4%, 10 species) being the dominant families. The composition of the sample showed that the oilbirds use a wide elevational range on the eastem Andean slope as forraging grounds and that they play an important ecological role as dipersers of large tree seeds.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="de"><p><![CDATA[Zusammenfassung 1996 wurde an einer Höhle im Carrasco Nationalpark, Bolivien, aus von Fettschwalmen (Steatornis caripensis - Steatomithidae) hervorgewürgten Samen eine zufällig zusammengesetzte Probe genommen. Die Probe enthielt Samen von mindestens 15 Baumarten, wobei die Familien Lauraceae (48.8% der Samen, mindestens 3 Arten) und Palmae (48.4%, 10 Arten) dominierten. Die Zusammensetzung der Probe zeigt, da&#946; die Fettschwalme bei ihrer Nahrungssuche eine gro&#946;e Höhenamplitude an der Andenostabdachung abdecken und eine wichtige Rolle als Verbreiter gro&#946;er Baumsamen erfüllen.]]></p></abstract>
