The synthesis of NPs (nanoparticles) using lithium and silver salts and its characterization by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was carried out. The effect of silver (AgNPs) and Lithium (LiNPs) nanoparticles (NPs) on the proliferation of Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae, was evaluated. For all concentrations evaluated, inhibition of bacterial growth was observed with a MIC close to 0.8 mg/mL-AgNPs and 0.6 mg/mL-LiNPs against S. aureus and 1 mg/mL-AgNPs and 0.6 mg/mL- LiNPs against K. pneumonia. Given the actual development of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, we contributed with an alternative for the future treatment of bacterial infections in humans and animals by evaluation of activities of synthetic metallic nanoparticles,]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Síntesis de nanopartículas de litio y plata por química verde y su efecto antimicrobiano sobre Staphylococcus aureus y Klebsiella pneumoniae. Se realizó la síntesis de NPs (nanopartículas) utilizando sales de litio y plata y su caracterización mediante microscopía electrónica de barrido (SEM). Se evaluó el efecto de nanopartículas (NP) de plata (AgNP) y litio (LiNP) sobre la proliferación de Staphylococcus aureus y Klebsiella pneumoniae. Para todas las concentraciones evaluadas, se observó inhibición del crecimiento bacteriano con una CMI cercana a 0,8 mg/mL-AgNPs y 0,6 mg/mL-LiNPs contra S. aureus y 1 mg/mL-AgNPs y 0,6 mg/mL-LiNPs contra K. neumonía. Dado el desarrollo actual de resistencia bacteriana a los antibióticos, contribuimos con una alternativa para el futuro tratamiento de infecciones bacterianas en humanos y animales mediante la evaluación de la actividad de nanopartículas metálicas sintéticas.]]></p></abstract>
