Métodos: Estudio comparativo de tipo analítico, retrospectivo. Se evaluó a 23 pacientes intervenidos con heridas crónicas de ambos sexos, con edades entre 18 a 79 años, cumpliéndose criterios de exclusión e inclusión. Que fueron atendidos en consultorio externo del Centro Especializado &#8220;Skin Medical&#8221;. Se tomó la medición en milímetros(mm). Con la medición de dimensiones basales (longitud mayor, longitud menor y profundidad); comparándose con mediciones secuenciales semanales desde la segunda a la octava semana. Resultados: Se evidenció mejoría con la reducción significativa de las longitudes mayores y menores de las heridas a la finalización de la octava semana del estudio; mostrando adicionalmente aumento de la granulación que propició mejoría en la profundidad. Con disminución de la incidencia en infecciones para el grupo que usó nanocelulosa. Corroborándose con resultados estadísticamente significativos (p&lt;0.05). Conclusiones: El uso de nanocelulosa proporciona resultados eficientes y eficaces para la resolución de heridas crónicas complejas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Objective: The study compares the results regarding wound healing improvement in patients with chronic wounds using conventional care versus the nanocellulose substitute Epicite Balance. Methods: Comparative analytical, retrospective study. A total of 23 patients with chronic wounds of both sexes, aged 18 to 79 years, were evaluated, meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. They were attended to at the outpatient clinic of the Specialized Center "Skin Medical." Measurements were taken in millimeters (mm), considering baseline dimensions (major length, minor length, and depth), and compared with sequential weekly measurements from the second to the eighth week. Results: Improvement was observed with a significant reduction in the major and minor lengths of wounds at the end of the eighth week of the study, additionally showing increased granulation that contributed to depth improvement. There was a decrease in the incidence of infections for the group using nanocellulose, confirmed with statistically significant results (p&lt;0.05). Conclusions: The use of nanocellulose provides efficient and effective results for resolving complex chronic wounds.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO Objetivo: O estudo compara os resultados em relação à melhora na cicatrização de feridas em pacientes com feridas crônicas utilizando cuidados convencionais versus o substituto de nanocelulose Epicite Balance. Métodos: Estudo comparativo, analítico e retrospectivo. Foram avaliados 23 pacientes com feridas crônicas de ambos os sexos, com idades entre 18 e 79 anos, atendendo aos critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Eles foram tratados no ambulatório do Centro Especializado "Skin Medical". As medições foram feitas em milímetros (mm), considerando dimensões basais (comprimento maior, comprimento menor e profundidade), comparando-se com medições semanais sequenciais desde a segunda até a oitava semana. Resultados: Observou-se melhora com redução significativa nos comprimentos maiores e menores das feridas ao final da oitava semana do estudo, mostrando adicionalmente aumento da granulação que contribuiu para a melhora da profundidade. Houve diminuição na incidência de infecções para o grupo que utilizou nanocelulose, confirmada com resultados estatisticamente significativos (p&lt;0.05). Conclusões: O uso de nanocelulose oferece resultados eficientes e eficazes para a resolução de feridas crônicas complexas.]]></p></abstract>
