Objetivo: Realizar una evaluación de cicatrización de los tejidos resultantes de la zona donante entre la técnica de expansión de injertos con sistema &#8220;Meek&#8221; versus la cura convencional en pacientes adultos mayores. Descripción del caso: Se presentó el reporte de veinte pacientes entre 65 y 98 años de la unidad de cirugía plástica de una clínica de Lima-Perú; entre octubre 2022 y junio 2024, donde se emplearon la técnica convencional y el uso del sistema &#8220;Meek&#8221; para cubrir la zona donante, mismo grosor de piel, mismo dermatomo. Se evaluaron las características de la cicatrización en la zona donante utilizando la escala de cicatrización Vancouver y Posas a los 30 días. Es un estudio comparativo, intervención, analítico, prospectivo y longitudinal. Discusión: Se apreció un mejor resultado de cicatrización empleando la técnica de injertos de piel parcial de sistema &#8220;Meek&#8221; en comparación con la curación continua o convencional, además de ser significativo (p&lt;0,05). La cicatrización resultante en la zona donante utilizando el sistema &#8220;Meek&#8221; tuvo características similares a la piel adyacente. Se pudo evidenciar que la técnica Meek es más eficiente al lograr cobertura temprana, efectiva y segura en las zonas donantes en pacientes adultos mayores mientras que en la cura convencional un proceso lento de cicatrización.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The management of the donor site after skin graft procurement represents a significant challenge in surgical practice, especially in older adults, where the capacity for skin regeneration is diminished. Objective: To perform an evaluation of donor site tissue healing between the Meek graft expansion technique versus conventional healing in older adult patients. Case description: Twenty patients between 65 and 98 years old from the plastic surgery unit of a clinic in Lima-Peru; between October 2022 and June 2024, where the conventional technique and the use of the &#8220;Meek&#8221; system were used to cover the donor area, same skin thickness, same dermatome. The characteristics of healing in the donor area were evaluated using the Vancouver and Posas healing scale at 30 days. It is a comparative, interventional, analytical, prospective and longitudinal study. Discussion: There was a better healing result using the partial skin grafting technique of the &#8220;Meek&#8221; system compared to continuous or conventional healing, and it was significant (p&lt;0.05). The resulting healing in the donor area using the &#8220;Meek&#8221; system had similar characteristics to the adjacent skin. It could be evidenced that the Meek technique is more efficient in achieving early, effective and safe coverage in the donor areas in older adult patients, while the conventional healing process is slower.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO A gestão da zona dadora após a colheita de enxertos de pele representa um desafio significativo na prática cirúrgica, especialmente em adultos mais velhos, em que a capacidade de regeneração da pele está diminuída. Objetivo: Realizar uma avaliação da cicatrização do tecido da zona dadora entre a técnica de expansão do enxerto de Meek e a cicatrização convencional em doentes adultos idosos. Descrição do caso: Vinte pacientes entre 65 e 98 anos de idade da unidade de cirurgia plástica de uma clínica em Lima-Peru; entre outubro de 2022 e junho de 2024, onde a técnica convencional e o uso do sistema &#8220;Meek&#8221; foram utilizados para cobrir a área doadora, mesma espessura de pele, mesmo dermátomo, foram apresentados. As caraterísticas de cicatrização da área doadora foram avaliadas através da escala de cicatrização de Vancouver e Posas aos 30 dias. Trata-se de um estudo comparativo, intervencional, analítico, prospetivo e longitudinal. Discussão: Verificou-se um resultado de cicatrização significativamente melhor (p&lt;0,05) utilizando a técnica de enxerto de pele parcial Meek em comparação com a cicatrização contínua ou convencional. A cicatrização resultante no local doador utilizando o sistema Meek tinha caraterísticas semelhantes às da pele adjacente. Foi evidente que a técnica Meek é mais eficiente na obtenção de uma cobertura precoce, eficaz e segura da zona dadora em doentes adultos mais velhos, enquanto a cicatrização convencional é um processo de cicatrização lento.]]></p></abstract>
