Las pequeñas y medianas empresas (PYME) presentan características particulares que re- quieren un estudio diferenciado, sin embargo, no existen estudios publicados que aborden los procesos de recursos humanos de PYMEs en Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia). El objetivo de esta investigación es describir de qué manera se llevan a cabo los procesos de gestión de recursos humanos en las PYMEs de Santa Cruz de la Sierra. A través de entrevistas semiestructuradas, se exploraron los procesos básicos de gestión de recursos humanos en una muestra de 32 gestores de Recursos Humanos en PYMEs. Los resultados mostraron que los procesos de reclutamiento y selección se realizan de manera simple e informal, los niveles de rotación y ausentismo son bajos y los beneficios no legislados se enfocan en agasajos, bonos y préstamos. En estas empresas, el clima laboral se evalúa, pero de manera informal y pasiva, por otro lado, la evaluación de desempeño suele realizarse basada en objetivos, críticas internas y en las opiniones de clientes. También se encontró interés en que se ofrezcan más capacitaciones y servicios de consultoría ajustados a la economía y las características de este sector.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Human resource management is important for the development of large, medium and small enterprises, since they have an important role in the optimization of business. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) present particular characteristics that require a differentiated study, however, there are no published studies that address human resource processes in SMEs in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia). The objective of this research was to describe how human resource management processes are carried out in SMEs in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Through se- mi-structured interviews, the basic processes of human resources management were explored in a sample of 32 Human Resources managers in SMEs. The results show that the recruitment and selection processes are carried out in a simple and informal way, the levels of turnover and absen- teeism are low, and the non-legislated benefits are focused on entertainment, bonuses and loans. In these companies, the work environment is evaluated, but in an informal and passive manner, on the other hand, performance evaluation is usually carried out based on objectives, internal criticism and the opinions of clients. They also recognized the need of having more training and consultancy services adjusted to their economy and characteristics.]]></p></abstract>
