<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.bo/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1012-29662025000200034&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.bo/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1012-29662025000200034&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.bo/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1012-29662025000200034&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Objetivos:  detectar patógenos responsables de infecciones de transmisión sexual en mujeres que acuden al Centro de Investigación, Educación y Servicios, mediante PCR múltiple en tiempo real e identificar posibles factores de riesgo sociodemográficos, conductuales y por desconocimiento del paciente.  Métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal con enfoque cuantitativo, en 100 mujeres con cuadro clínico de ITS. Los patógenos responsables de ITS se detectaron por PCR múltiple en tiempo real en muestras de hisopado genital. Los posibles factores de riesgo se recolectaron mediante entrevista individual con un cuestionario anónimo.  Resultados: en el 48% de las muestras analizadas se detectó al menos un patógeno responsable de ITS: T. pallidum (25%), VHS-2 (24%), VHS-1 (23%), CMV (14%) y C. trachomatis (2%). Los factores de riesgo fueron el desconocimiento sobre ITS con 37%, el inicio de la actividad sexual antes de los 17 años con 31%, el número de parejas sexuales con 52% y las relaciones sexuales sin preservativo con 71%. Se encontraron asociaciones significativas entre ciertos factores de riesgo y la presencia de ITS, como la edad de inicio de la actividad sexual y el número de parejas sexuales.  Conclusiones: se detectó una alta prevalencia de patógenos responsables de ITS en mujeres con cuadro clínico, resaltando la importancia del diagnóstico molecular para la detección temprana y precisa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  to detect pathogens responsible for sexually transmitted infections in women attending the Research, Education and Services Center, using multiplex real-time PCR and to identify possible sociodemographic, behavioral, and patient-related risk factors.  Methods:  an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach was conducted in 100 women with clinical symptoms of STIs. Pathogens responsible for STIs were detected using multiplex real-time PCR in genital swab samples. Possible risk factors were collected through individual interviews using an anonymous questionnaire.  Results:  at least one pathogen responsible for STIs was detected in 48% of the samples analyzed: T. pallidum (25%), HSV-2 (24%), HSV-1 (23%), CMV (14%), and C. trachomatis (2%). Risk factors included lack of knowledge about STIs (37%), initiation of sexual activity before age 17 (31%), number of sexual partners (52%), and sexual intercourse without a condom (71%). Significant associations were found between certain risk factors and the presence of STIs, such as age at initiation of sexual activity and number of sexual partners.  Conclusions:  a high prevalence of pathogens responsible for STIs was detected in women with clinical symptoms, highlighting the importance of molecular diagnosis for early and accurate detection.]]></p></abstract>
