ALARCON GUTIERREZ, Roger William; ALFARO MUNARES, Karina Rocio y LIMA ROMAN, Percy. Citizen participation and public management in peru: a systematic review (2020-2024). Impulso [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.11, pp.287-299. Epub 02-Jul-2025. ISSN 2959-9040. https://doi.org/10.59659/impulso.v.5i11.144.
Citizen participation has been widely studied in various contexts, but its specific impact on public management, especially in local governments, continues to be a key research topic. The present study aimed to analyze the effect of citizen participation on public management through a systematic review based on the PRISMA method. The search for information was carried out in the Scopus, Scielo, ERIC and Web of Science databases. A total of 65 research studies were identified, of which 14 were selected for the final analysis. The results show that citizen participation has a positive impact on public management by promoting transparency, legitimacy and institutional efficiency. Likewise, its role in strengthening civic engagement, institutional trust and social control is highlighted, contributing to a more democratic public administration that is more responsive to citizen demands. In conclusion, this review provides relevant evidence for the consolidation of inclusive and efficient public administration models that respond to the realities and expectations of citizens.
