DOMINGUEZ MONTALVO, Glizet Teresa. Empowerment in the face of adversity: Factors determining female entrepreneurship in Andean rural communities in Peru. Impulso [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.11, pp.259-274. Epub 02-Jul-2025. ISSN 2959-9040. https://doi.org/10.59659/impulso.v.5i11.142.
Women's entrepreneurship emerges as a phenomenon of global strategic relevance, constituting a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development objectives, reducing poverty and promoting gender equality. The objective of the study is to analyze the determinants of women's business performance in the Cullcuy case, Huánuco, Peru. The focus is a transversal quantitative study with a sample of 98 women. Structured surveys will be applied. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, bivariate correlations, Student tests and hierarchical multiple linear regression models. The results show that human capital, educational level and capacity received, constitute the most robust predictors of business performance. The perception of machismo in the home correlated negatively with income, although its effect was attenuated in the multivariate model. It is concluded that policies to promote female entrepreneurship in rural contexts must be comprehensive, combining technical training and improving educational levels.
