Financial perception refers to the way individuals interpret, understand, and react to financial information and the economic decisions they face in their daily lives. The objective of this study was to diagnose the financial perception of engineering students at UNMSM in 2022, through the analysis of their socio-economic characteristics, financial education level, planning, product use, and behavioral aspects. A principal components analysis (PCA) revealed that these dimensions explain between 56-74% of the total variance in financial perception among university students. The results suggest that socio-economic characteristics, financial education, planning, financial products, and behavioral finance are key factors that impact financial perception among these students. It is concluded that an integrated approach that addresses these aspects is essential to improve financial education and decision-making among engineering students at UNMSM.
