Human trafficking constitutes a contemporary form of slavery that gravely violates human rights, affecting the physical and mental health of victims through systematic violence and degrading living conditions. This study aimed to analyze human trafficking as a form of modern slavery in a globalized world. A qualitative methodology with a descriptive design was employed, through a systematic review of 20 studies indexed in Scopus, SciELO, Dialnet, and Latindex, following the PRISMA 2020 protocol, for the period 2021-2025. The findings demonstrate that human trafficking represents a global crisis that perpetuates the exploitation and invisibility of victims. The review highlights its legal relevance by underscoring the urgency of eradicating and criminally prosecuting this crime, promoting the comprehensive protection of fundamental rights. The need to implement preventive measures, effective protection mechanisms, and international cooperation strategies, in accordance with current multilateral legal instruments, is emphasized.
