University adaptation is a key process for indigenous students, who face cultural, linguistic, and social challenges in their transition to higher education. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between university adaptation and academic effectiveness in students at an intercultural university in northeastern Peru. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational approach was applied to a sample of 100 randomly selected indigenous students. Two instruments validated in intercultural contexts were used. The results showed positive and significant correlations between university adaptation and dimensions such as performance, self-efficacy, persistence, and emotional stability, with an overall coefficient of ρ = .624 (p < .001). The findings suggest that greater academic and emotional integration promotes performance and retention. It is recommended that culturally relevant institutional strategies be implemented to strengthen student adaptation and reduce dropout rates in intercultural universities.
