The development of critical thinking in Latin American university students is fundamental, but it is also essential to understand how it is promoted. The objective was to analyze the development of critical thinking in Latin American university students through a systematic review of articles published between 2019 and 2024. The PRISMA method was used, enhancing the collection through reliable academic search engines using Boolean operators and keywords related to the topic. Initially, 174 publications were obtained, and after applying the filters, 18 were selected. It is estimated that the development of critical thinking in Latin American university students is a complex process that is strengthened through active methodologies. Continuous teacher training is recommended, both in these methodologies and in the use of tools and the conduct of digital research that evaluates the impact of said methodologies and tools by disciplinary área.
