HUARANJA MONTANO, Max Alejandro et al. Relationship between critical thinking and attitude towards research in engineering students from a university in Lima, Peru. Critical thinking is an essential skill in the training of engineers, as it strengthens the ability to analyze and solve problems. The present research aimed to determine the relationship between critical thinking and the attitude towards research in engineering students at a university in Lima. The study adopted a quantitative approach, with a correlational scope, and a non-experimental and cross-sectional design. Two validated Likert-type questionnaires with adequate levels of reliability were used. The sample consisted of 62 students. The results showed a moderate positive correlation (rs = .583, p < .01), indicating that a higher level of critical thinking is associated with a more favorable attitude towards research, and vice versa. Additionally, through a K-means cluster analysis, four distinct student profiles were identified. These findings provide empirical evidence supporting the existence of a significant relationship between critical thinking and attitude towards research. This evidence can serve as a theoretical basis for designing pedagogical strategies.
