Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill that must be developed in basic education because it influences students' academic performance. The objective of this study is to identify pedagogical strategies, assessment processes, the integration of ICTs, and the main contributions related to reading comprehension in basic education. The approach is qualitative, and a systematic review using the PRISMA method was used. The search was conducted in the ProQuest and EBSCOhost databases using Boolean operators AND and OR, selecting 14 studies for the review. The results underscore the need for a comprehensive approach that articulates pedagogical strategies, technologies, early interventions, and assessment to improve reading comprehension in basic education. It is concluded that the most effective strategies for improving reading comprehension in basic education are the incorporation of digital technologies and graphic organizers, although their impact depends on teacher training and appropriate curricular integration.
