Political-ideological polarization in Latin America represents a complex phenomenon with profound implications for democracy, social cohesion and political stability in the region. The objective of this article is to analyze, from the systematization of documents, the political-ideological polarization in Latin American elections from the perspective of Gastón Jorge Quevedo Pereyra. The interpretative paradigm, qualitative approach, the method is the systematization of documents, and the design was documentary. As a result, Latin American politics has been characterized by the emergence of radical populist leaders, both left and right, which has intensified political polarization on the continent. In turn, he mentioned that Latin America has experienced an uneven development of democratic processes, observing polarizations that range from states with high levels of democracy to authoritarian regimes. Concluding that, political polarization in Latin America is a complex phenomenon with several manifestations and consequences. Polarization can lead to legislative stagnation, making it difficult to approve crucial policies and reforms.
