MARCOS AMES, Pamela Xiomara; MIRAVAL MARQUEZ, Jakelin Solina y RIVERA MUNOZ, Jorge Leoncio. Impact of information and communication technologies in virtual environments on academic performance. The use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in education has expanded globally in recent decades, generating intense debate about their real impact on academic performance. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) tools in virtual environments on the academic performance of secondary school students in Peru. The approach is qualitative, using a documentary design, based on a bibliographic review of literature published between 2021 and 2025. The results show that ICTs provide significant improvements in specific curricular areas such as mathematics and science, increasing student motivation and facilitating personalized learning, although these improvements depend on conditioning factors such as infrastructure, teacher competencies, and equitable access. The results show that, although ICTs provided essential support in Peru during the pandemic, the digital divide still limits their effectiveness. It is concluded that the effective implementation of ICTs requires clear pedagogical strategies, ongoing teacher training, and comprehensive educational policies.
