JINÉZ GARCIA, Esther Lidia et al. Anxiety and sleep quality in Cusco school teachers. Tribunal [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.11, pp.331-340. Epub 01-Abr-2025. ISSN 2959-6513. https://doi.org/http://doi.org/10.59659/revistatribunal.v5i11.160.
The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the mental health and sleep quality of teachers; teachers faced challenges such as social isolation, the implementation of distance education and increased work demands, which exacerbated anxiety symptoms and nighttime rest disturbances. Therefore, this research proposed to analyze the relationship between anxiety and sleep quality in teachers of that district. This study adopted a quantitative approach with a correlational design. To achieve this objective, Spearman's correlation coefficient (Rho) was used as the method of statistical analysis. Anxiety was assessed by means of the Hamilton Test, while sleep quality was determined by means of the Pittsburg test. The results revealed a significant and positive correlation (Rho = 0.762; p<0.001) between anxiety and sleep quality in the examined teachers. Furthermore, 44.3 % of teachers who have moderate anxiety have poor sleep quality. This indicates that teachers who experience higher levels of anxiety tend to have lower sleep quality. Consequently, lack of quality sleep can result in decreased job performance for teachers. Fatigue and lack of concentration can hinder their ability to plan and conduct lessons effectively, which can negatively affect the quality of their work performance
