A systematic literature review was conducted under the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The Scielo, Dialnet, and Redalyc databases were used for the period from 2015 to 2023. Fifteen scientific works were included. The findings suggest the application of innovative educational strategies to improve reading comprehension and critical thinking in primary school students. It is concluded that the various strategies outlined to encourage critical thinking and reading comprehension represent a latent opportunity for students to acquire support tools to understand reality through the experience of reading.
