MACO TUESTA, Shelvy Stefany; RAMOS BECERRA, Luis Martin  e  SOBERO CAIRA, Juana Gloria. Technology in the deaf community: A bibliometric analysis of mobile applications. Tribunal [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.11, pp.113-128.  Epub 01-Abr-2025. ISSN 2959-6513.  https://doi.org/http://doi.org/10.59659/revistatribunal.v5i11.145.

Mobile applications for deaf people allow them to overcome communication barriers. The research aimed to analyze the main scientific productions on mobile applications designed to improve communication and accessibility for people with hearing impairments. Using a descriptive bibliometric analysis, 84 publications indexed in Scopus, published between 2003 and 2024, were examined. The results show a 94.05% increase in scientific production since 2016. Malaysia, India, and the United States lead the scientific production, while Computer Science (30%) and Engineering (20%) dominate the thematic areas. The International Journal of Interactive Mobile Technologies and Assistive Technology are the most relevant journals, with five publications each. It is concluded that mobile applications have proven to be key tools for improving communication, education, and social inclusion, although greater focus is needed on user-centered designs and usability evaluations.

Palavras-chave : Accessibility; Mobile applications; Hearing impairments; Deaf people; Assistive technologies.
