The development of competencies in university students is crucial to train professionals capable of facing challenges and contributing effectively to society. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between action research and transversal competencies in students of English and Historical Social Sciences at the Federico Villarreal National University in Lima, Peru. A non-experimental, correlational and quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out with 80 students. The results show a significant correlation of 0.827 between action research and transversal competencies, indicating that active research drives the development of skills. The specific dimensions present robust correlations: information management (0.789), leadership (0.826), teamwork (0.741) and problem solving (0.736). These findings underline the importance of active teaching that forms competent students and agents of social change.
