This systematic review addresses a significant issue for environmental education and aims to identify publications on the proper management of solid waste through the application of the 3R's technique (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in the secondary educational context. The literature review allowed access to theoretical postulates regarding the 3R's technique as a means to enhance the development of values of responsibility towards the environment in secondary schools. To carry out this study, a bibliographic review was conducted of studies published between 2009 and 2021 in national and international journals indexed in databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Scielo, and SPORTDiscus, among others. While the literature records issues related to the proper management of solid waste, it is necessary to expand studies on this topic, which still remains on the margins of scientific production.
