CHAFLOQUE CHAVEZ, Sandra Edith. Risk factors associated with anxiety and depression due to COVID-19, a systemic review. Tribunal [online]. 2024, vol.4, n.9, pp.339-359. Epub 25-Out-2024. ISSN 2959-6513. https://doi.org/10.59659/revistatribunal.v4i9.83.
Studying the factors that influence mental disorders is crucial for better understanding their etiology, developing effective treatments, and promoting health in society. The aim of the research was to describe the state of research on the risk factors associated with COVID-19 and its impact on the onset of anxiety and depression in various sectors of the population. A total of 525 articles on the topic were identified; from these, 399 were eliminated after a first reading of the titles, 82 were removed after reading the abstracts, 14 duplicates were eliminated, and 10 were removed for being review articles, leaving a final total of 20 articles for analysis, published between 2020 and 2024. The PRISMA method was used for analysis. The results indicated that the most prevalent factor is caring for infected patients, followed by sex, age, sociodemographic conditions, mental health history, comorbidities, number of children, confinement conditions, virtual education, marital status, and health concerns. These results underscore the urgent need to develop prevention and intervention strategies that address the identified risk factors to mitigate the psychological impact of the pandemic.
