ROZAS CALDERON, Vanessa and ENCISO SOTOMAYOR, Esmeralda. Psychological wellbeing: a theoretical review. Vive Rev. Salud [online]. 2025, vol.8, n.22, pp.250-265. Epub Jan 22, 2025. ISSN 2664-3243. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistavive.v8i22.374.
This article makes an analysis of various investigations on psychological well-being, especially those that have focused on making theoretical analyzes of the concept and its evolution. Articles published on reliable platforms such as scopus, scielo, latí sec and repositories of national and foreign universities have been reviewed. In the analysis it has been observed that the majority of theories on psychological well-being consider contextual, social and personal factors that contribute to its development, they also affirm that the variable is not stable throughout the development of people and that characteristics that contribute to its development should be promoted to guarantee that people reach an adult stage and old age in the best conditions, since high levels of psychological well-being are associated with a better quality of life, fewer difficulties in social relationships and higher levels of satisfaction, in addition to being a protective factor. against problems of daily life, stressful situations or illnesses. It is concluded that the most complete theory on psychological well-being is Carol Ryff's model, which considers six dimensions for the variable, associated with the factors that contribute to understanding it in its complexity as a dynamic and constantly evolving construct.
