Abstract

Healthy lifestyles are key to child and youth development, influencing their physical, mental and social well-being. Studies show that educational workshops improve knowledge about healthy habits in students, promoting positive changes in their daily behavior. Objective: Determine the effectiveness of a workshop on healthy lifestyles in students from a vulnerable district in Peru. Materials and methods: Applied type study and pre-experimental design. With a population of 122 students. The data collection technique was the survey and as an instrument a questionnaire that went through the validity process, before applying the instrument to the members of the study, informed consent was given to their parents as they were minors. Results: The child life stage is made up of the majority of the study population with 60% and with a primary education level in 68%; the level of knowledge of healthy lifestyles in the case of the population of children and adolescents, before the workshop 23% at a very good level and after the workshop 54.1%, before the workshop at 0% at an excellent level and after from the workshop 39.3%; the analysis of the effectiveness of the workshop before and after, with X2 (chi-square) of 193.85 and p value of 0.000. Conclusion: The workshop had a statistically significant effect on improving knowledge about healthy lifestyles.
