SALCEDO MOLINA, Gustavo René; CHAU RAMOS, Enrique Antonio  and  CHAU RAMOS, Crhistian Alexander. Comparison of the quality of healing of second-degree burns with EPICITE nanocellulose vs. conventional healing in Puno 2022. Vive Rev. Deep second-degree burns cause severe skin lesions, increasing the risk of infection and deforming scars involving the epidermal layers, reaching the reticular dermis and should be adequately treated with a timely and appropriate treatment. Objective: To evaluate the quality of healing of deep second-degree burns resulting from the EPICITE nanocellulose technique in comparison with conventional healing. Materials and methods: A comparative, analytical, prospective and longitudinal intervention study was carried out with a sample of 28 patients. It was developed in a clinic in the city of Puno, Peru, with a total sample of the entire universe of patients attended in both sexes, 28 patients of both sexes between 10 and 70 years. Of which 50% were treated with conventional cures, while the other 50% were treated with the EPICITE nanocellulose temporary dermal substitute. Results showed that patients treated with EPICITE within the first 24 hours, healing showed significant improvements at three and six months post-injury. The evaluation was performed using the Vancouver scar assessment scale, which analyzes parameters such as pigmentation, vascularization, flexibility and scar height. Statistically significant differences were found (p<0.05) in favor of the use of nanocellulose in the healing process. Conclusions: The use of EPICITE nanocellulose dermal substitute proved to be an effective alternative for the treatment of deep second degree burns.
