For several years, in different countries, the need to retake pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium as a "humanizing" process has been expressed, for this purpose, there is talk of de-medicalization under the approach of returning to the natural. A practice by the villagers, but this knowledge is being displaced due to globalization. Objective. Revaluation the customs and beliefs of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium of mothers about this fact have greater confidence in the use of traditional medicine with plants, animals, minerals and astronomical objects in therapeutic treatments in the care of the child. Materials and methods. The research was inductive, qualitative approach, ethnographic-descriptive design, non-probabilistic sampling by experts. In the research procedure it was possible to interpret the opinions, cultural perceptions, attitudes and expectations of the key informants and it was processed by means of the Atlas ti software. Results. It was determined that the revaluation is related to the customs and beliefs of feeding the process of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium linked to deities in the cultural tradition. The role of midwives is determinant for the therapeutic treatment with the use of plants, minerals and animals. In this process, ritual practices are very important in the process of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium, which are carried out based on the ancestral cultural tradition in the communities of the Peruvian Andes. Conclusion. The resources of traditional therapy and primary health care of midwives are useful and beneficial for perinatal care.
