Introduction: Sweet water is a renewable resource, but its quality has been affected by anthropogenic activities; In this sense, to determine the quality of the water of the Río Negro tributary of the Aguaytía river (Ucayali, Peru). Objective: Evaluate how seasonal variations (dry seasons and rain) influence water quality and biodiversity of benthic macroinvertebrates in the Aguaytía River. Materials and method: The approach of the study is quantitative, descriptive and experimental. The ASPT and Shannon-Weiner (H´) indices were calculated. The museums will be carried out in September 2020 (dry season) and 2021 (rainy season), considering standardized methods to collect samples and identify benthic macroinvertebrates, which were collected in 8 sampling points, in dry and rainy seasons. Results: In agreement with the ASPT Index and H’ the values of water quality are within the range of good, acceptable and dubious; and statistically no difference in season and museum location; Furthermore, ASPT values moderately correlate with H´ values. Conclusions: The existence of a moderate positive relationship between water quality and biodiversity levels of benthic macro invertebrates is demonstrated.
