MARLIX CRISTANCHO ARIZA, Krystell Fiorela e GUERRA LU, José Kalión. Management and handling of household organic solid waste in the district of Rupa Rupa, Leoncio Prado, Huánuco - Peru 2023. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.25, pp.120-133. Epub 27-Jan-2025. ISSN 2664-0902. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v9i25.336.
Waste management encompasses technical actions from generation to final disposal. Consequently, the objective of this research was to evaluate the management and handling of household organic solid waste in the Rupa Rupa district. The per capita generation is 0.512 kg/day, with 70.21% of the waste being organic. However, only 9.86% of this is composted, and the recycling of inorganic waste is just 7.18%. The moisture content of the produced compost is acceptable (9.02%). Only 37% of the population participates in segregation programs, and the overall evaluation shows that only 8% consider these efforts "very good." In conclusion, the study highlights the urgency of strengthening education and awareness strategies among the population regarding organic waste management and its valorization, as well as the need to implement appropriate policies to facilitate efficient management of organic solid waste.
