FLORES FLORES, Luis Antonio et al. Characterization and Mapping of Environmental Noise in the Urban Center of Pebas, Loreto, Peru. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.25, pp.22-37. Epub 27-Jan-2025. ISSN 2664-0902. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v9i25.329.
Noise pollution is a topic of growing interest in the scientific community due to its adverse effects on human health. It is defined as any unwanted sound signal that is bothersome and whose prolonged exposure can affect people's well-being, thus becoming an environmental pollutant. This study aimed to characterize noise levels and create a noise map of the urban district of Pebas, Peru. The research adopted a quantitative, longitudinal, and descriptive approach, using sampling modeling to assess acoustic pollution in different urban areas. The results showed significant differences in noise levels: the Special Protection Zone recorded an average of 58.28 dB, while the Residential Zone had 54.58 dB, and the Commercial Zone reached the highest level at 66.67 dB. These levels exceed the limits recommended by environmental regulations, raising serious concerns about public health, with vehicular traffic identified as the main source of noise.
