The use of probiotics in poultry has increased due to the increased demand for safe feed with no residual effect to obtain healthy and sustainable productions. Hence, the aim is to find out which probiotics are most frequently used in chicken fattening and their effect on the intestinal tract. Sources used were scientific articles selected from databases such as Scielo, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Redalyc and Dialnet. The search equation probiotics+intestine+nutrition+production+intestinal microbiota together with the main search operators AND, OR and NOT. The most commonly used probiotics in the poultry industry are: Lactobacillus bulgaricus, L. acidophilus, L. casei, L. lactis, L. salivarius, L. plantarum, Streptococcus thermophilus, Enterococcus faecium, E. faecalis, Bifidobacterium spp., Aspergillus oryzae and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Therefore, probiotics are used as an ideal alternative to antibiotics as subtherapeutics, in the form of growth promoters.
