PANTALEON SANTA MARIA, Alberto et al. Analysis of ginger exports on Perú. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.23, pp.496-507. Epub 02-Maio-2024. ISSN 2664-0902. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v8i23.281.
Peru has established itself as a major exporter of organic ginger, especially from the Junín region, thanks to its high quality and ideal growing conditions. Exports have grown significantly, with the United States, the European Union, and Asia as the main markets. Demand increased during the pandemic due to the immune-boosting properties of ginger, benefiting the Peruvian agricultural economy. The objective of this study was to analyze the behavior of Peruvian ginger exports during the period 2016-2022. The theoretical framework describes the factors involved in exports and how they vary over time. A longitudinal documentary research was conducted based on export records and data from the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT), TRADE MAP, and FAOSTAT for the period 2016-2022. It was found that Peru is the fourth largest exporter of ginger worldwide and that Peruvian exports occurred throughout the year. It was concluded that Peruvian ginger exports in 2020 showed significant growth compared to those in the period 2016-2019, but fell in 2021 and 2022 due to international prices. The FOB value of exports in 2020 increased by 139.2% compared to 2019 and by 329% compared to 2016. The net weight achieved in 2020 represents a growth of 101% compared to 2019 and 240% compared to 2016.
