JINES GARCIA, Esther Lidia et al. Physical-chemical characterization of surface water in two sectors of the Ramis River. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.23, pp.472-479. Epub 02-Mayo-2024. ISSN 2664-0902. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v8i23.279.
Currently, rapid development generates pollutants that seriously damage the river ecosystem. This research aimed to determine the physical-chemical characteristics of surface waters in two sectors of the Ramis River in Peru during the dry season. Various techniques were used, including ICP-OES to measure the concentrations of Cu, Pb, Cr and Hg, as well as a multiparameter device to measure physical parameters such as temperature, electrical conductivity, pH level, turbidity, total dissolved solids, biochemical demand and oxygen chemistry. The results revealed that the concentration of Cu (0.0356 mg/l) exceeded the permissible limits established by Peruvian regulations; The concentrations of Pb (0.0001 mg/l), Cr (0.0064 mg/l) and Hg (0.0004 mg/l) remained below the limits allowed for these waters. Pollution of the Ramis River is a multifaceted problem that requires urgent and coordinated action by government authorities, mining companies and local communities to mitigate its impacts and restore the health of the river ecosystem.
